Schedule

Thursday, Friday, Saturday 7:00pm-7:30am, 36 hours per week (0.9 FTE); no call required.

Location

Northwestern Memorial Hospital – state‑of‑the‑art operating rooms, 60+ ORs, Level I trauma and stroke centers.

Role Overview

The Surgical Services Clinical Nurse reflects mission, vision, and values, adheres to code of ethics, and satisfies all regulatory standards.

Responsibilities
  • Advocate for patient‑centered care, develop individualized plans, and protect patient safety.
  • Provide post‑operative care, identify pre‑anesthetic risks, and educate patients and families.
  • Engage in evidence‑based practice, quality improvement, and research activities.
  • Share knowledge through education of team members, patients, and students.
  • Lead team goals, delegate, and supervise interventions as a nursing leader.
  • Participate in community volunteer initiatives and professional organizations.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an NLN accredited nursing program.
  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or higher.
  • Current Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license.
  • Cardio‑Pulmonary Resuscitation certification (healthcare provider level).
  • Analytic, oral, written, and keyboard skills.
  • Strong human‑relation skills for collaboration in difficult situations.
Preferred
  • Experience in a specific clinical area.
  • Specialty nursing certification, if eligible.
Background Check
