The National Center of Excellence for Veterans and Their Families (RHP) is dedicated to assisting and supporting current service members (active duty, reserve, and national guard), veterans, and their families with effective clinic services focused on treating mental health diagnoses. All services are provided at no out of pocket cost to the client. RHP has an outpatient clinic that provides in-person and virtual services such as individual, couples, family, child, and group psychotherapy as well as medication management and neuropsychological testing.
RHP also specializes in the treatment of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) utilizing a 2-week in-person intensive outpatient therapy program (IOP) for service members and veterans from across the U.S. as well as a virtual accelerated treatment option for those with barriers to in person attendance. RHP provides these services in collaboration with existing veteran and service member organizations.
The intake clinician will primarily conduct intake assessments for adults interested in attending the IOP. IOP intake assessments are generally conducted virtually (phone or video) and consist of a biopsychosocial clinical intake assessment, Clinician-Administered PTSD Scale for DSM-5 (CAPS), and Diagnostic Interview for Anxiety, Mood, and OCD and Related Neuropsychiatric Disorders (DIAMOND) assessment as needed. The intake clinician will also conduct medical record reviews and staff cases with an interdisciplinary team.
Furthermore, the clinician will have the opportunity to provide weekly therapy services. The clinician will work in collaboration with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, counselors, and other members of RHP’s multidisciplinary team. This position will exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
- Master's degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or applied behavioral science required.
- Current Illinois licensure as a Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). Those who hold an LSW or LCP will receive one hour of weekly supervision.
- Two years of experience in healthcare, case management, mental health and/or social services.
- Strong active listening, critical thinking, judgment, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Behave ethically and professionally, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and be capable of working with diverse populations.
- Ability to collaborate well with others.
- Emotional resilience and stability in order to deal effectively with crises.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- At least two years of post-license experience as a member of a psychiatric treatment team in an outpatient setting under licensed supervision.
- Experience with evidence-based therapies.
- Previous work with service members, veterans, and their families.
- Experience with Electronic Health Records (Epic).
