Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position in Illinois, requiring an active IL RN license and recent acute care ED experience.

• Work in the Emergency Department of a hospital setting
• Day shifts with 3x12 hour schedule, 7:00 am to 7:30 pm
• Weekend shifts required every other weekend (2 per month)
• No block scheduling or special scheduling requests allowed
• Mandatory float policy to other units and Cook County facilities within a 50-mile radius as needed, sometimes with 2 hours’ notice
• Uses the Cerner EMR system
• Navy blue scrubs required and not provided
• Parking available in adjacent garage for a $5 fee per entry
• Strict compliance and documentation deadlines must be met prior to orientation
• No requests for time off on holidays or the days immediately before or after holidays will be approved
• RTO is limited to 5 days total with no more than 2 consecutive days and none on weekends
• Team-based support model is used if floated outside primary competency

• Active IL RN license required at the time of consideration (no pending licenses accepted)
• Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care experience in the Emergency Department
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• PALS certification preferred
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required prior to start date
• Must live within 75 miles of the facility to be considered
• Must complete required lab work within 72 hours of accepting the assignment
