About the Opportunity

We are currently hiring for an Infection Preventionist position with one of our clients in Chicago, IL. This is an excellent opportunity for healthcare professionals who are interested in infection prevention, patient safety, epidemiology, healthcare quality, and clinical compliance
.

We are open to considering qualified new graduates with relevant healthcare education, clinical rotations, internships, or infection prevention coursework , while candidates with prior experience in infection control, nursing, public health, epidemiology, or healthcare quality are especially encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development and implementation of infection prevention and control programs.
  • Monitor healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and assist with identifying trends and potential risks.
  • Conduct infection surveillance and maintain accurate infection prevention records and reports.
  • Assist with monitoring compliance with infection prevention policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review clinical and laboratory data to identify potential infection risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support investigations of suspected infection outbreaks and assist with appropriate follow-up activities.
  • Collaborate with nursing, physicians, laboratory staff, environmental services, and other healthcare departments.
  • Assist with auditing hand hygiene, PPE use, isolation precautions, environmental cleaning, and other infection prevention practices.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, presentations, and educational materials for healthcare staff and leadership.
  • Provide education and training to staff regarding infection prevention practices and policies.
  • Assist with policy development, updates, and implementation based on current guidelines and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives related to infection prevention.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and support regulatory and accreditation requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Public Health, Epidemiology, Healthcare Administration, Health Sciences, Microbiology, or a related healthcare field
    .
  • Strong understanding of healthcare and infection prevention principles.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clinical and non‑clinical healthcare teams.
  • Ability to interpret healthcare data and identify trends or potential risks.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in infection prevention, infection control, nursing, public health, epidemiology, clinical quality, or healthcare compliance
    .
  • Experience or coursework related to healthcare‑associated infections (HAIs).
  • Familiarity with CDC, CMS, OSHA, The Joint Commission, or other healthcare regulatory guidelines.
  • Knowledge of standard precautions, transmission‑based precautions, isolation practices, PPE, and hand hygiene.
  • Experience with infection surveillance, audits, data collection, or quality improvement.
  • Familiarity with Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or other reporting and data analysis tools.
  • Certification such as CIC (Certification in Infection Control) is a plus but may not be required for entry‑level candidates.
  • Clinical internship, residency, practicum, or healthcare‑related project experience is a plus.
