About the Role

Our organization is looking for an experienced Labor & Employment Counsel to support our nationwide workforce from our Chicago headquarters. This role is ideal for an attorney who excels in a fast‑paced environment and enjoys partnering closely with HR, Compliance, and Operations leaders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise on federal and multi‑state labor & employment laws, including IL‑specific requirements.
  • Support HR with employee relations issues, internal investigations, and workplace policies.
  • Manage and respond to EEOC and state agency claims, and oversee outside counsel when needed.
  • Provide guidance on wage & hour issues, workplace accommodations, FMLA/leave matters, and DEI initiatives.
  • Assist with labor relations matters, collective bargaining issues, and grievance procedures (if applicable).
  • Develop and deliver employment law training across the organization.
  • Collaborate on compliance, risk mitigation, and strategic workforce initiatives.
Qualifications
  • J.D. with strong academic credentials; licensed in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (Illinois a plus).
  • 5–8 years of labor & employment experience in a law firm or in‑house setting.
  • Solid understanding of federal and state employment laws, including Midwest market familiarity.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to deliver business‑focused solutions.
  • Proven ability to work with cross‑functional teams and communicate complex issues clearly.
  • Practical, collaborative mindset with strong judgment and discretion.
