Human Resources Assistant

Salary Range: $40,000 – $44,000 annually (based on experience and skills).
Essential Job Functions- Assist the Chief People & Culture Officer with scheduling, meeting preparation, correspondence, reports, and calendar management.
- Maintain confidential employee files (digital and physical) and ensure documentation is accurate and compliant with agency policies and legal requirements.
- Prepare and distribute HR communications, memos, and agency‑wide notices.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for routine HR inquiries, directing employees to resources and escalating issues as needed.
- Coordinate employee recognition activities, wellness initiatives, and HR‑sponsored events.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and internal policies and procedures.
- Handle highly confidential information using sound judgment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Two years of office or HR support experience (required).
- Advanced computer skills, including MS Word, Outlook, and Excel (required).
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines (required).
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills (required).
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and meet simultaneous deadlines.
- Experience managing confidential information.
- Strong sense of urgency and strong follow‑through.
- High attention to detail.
- Effective interpersonal and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to interact appropriately with diverse staff and external constituents.
- Willingness to travel to other agency sites periodically (if required).
- Flexibility, strong collaboration, and adaptability to change.
- Strong interpersonal and problem‑solving skills when dealing with individuals at all organizational levels.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
- Pass all relevant screenings and criminal background checks.
- Sitting and standing for sustained periods; frequent talking, hearing, and use of hands.
- Occasional bending, stretching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- Close visual acuity required for data preparation, analysis, and computer use.
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- $2,000 contribution to individual HSA and $4,000 to family HSA (pro‑rated to start date).
