About the Role

This role will achieve results through leading and supporting others and drive strong collaboration across multiple key stakeholders within the business and HR. While working tirelessly to foster an environment consistent with company Culture, Mission and Values.

This role will be responsible for the following:

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a team of HR professionals to care for employees, protect our culture and proactively partner with the business to drive strategy and foster growth.
  • Learn the business cold, develop strong relationships with business leaders, proactively anticipate business needs, and align people strategies to support business goals.
  • Adapt people strategies and priorities as necessary to meet the unique needs of each Distribution Center based on DC level goals, challenges, and labor market conditions.
  • Partner with operations leadership on both regional and/or local strategies to continuously improve employee experience cultivating a workplace where employees stay, thrive, and grow.
  • Champion change management to support our on-going focus on continuous improvement initiatives, help build and communicate compelling business case to influence key stakeholders, gain buy in and drive sustainable results.
  • Provide oversight and point of escalation for all day-to-day HR operational support, ensuring barriers are removed and business needs are always met.
  • Lead escalated, often complex, employee relations issues utilizing a high degree of confidentiality and managing multiple key stakeholders to ensure alignment and mitigate risk for the best possible outcome.
  • Build strong and trusted partnerships with HR counterparts across talent acquisition, talent development, compensation and benefits, and Compliance to deliver high quality people strategy and solutions to our business leaders.
  • Advise, counsel and influence decisions on complex people, process and culture challenges. Provide courageous people perspective on business issues, even when unpopular.
  • Act as point of escalation for all employee relations matters to ensure employment and labor law compliance.
  • Contribute to a strong and unified HR Leadership team to create and drive synergies.
  • Provide judicious oversight for regional HR budget to include HR headcount management and operating expenses.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 15 years HR business partner experience, at least 5 years at the Director level and leading a team of HR professionals across multiple geographies.
  • Distribution and/or Manufacturing human resources experience highly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or a related field required.
  • PHR/SPHR preferred.
Required Skills
  • Proven ability to act as a trust HR advisor to senior business leaders.
  • Ability to work successfully under pressure and handle multiple highly sensitive issues and competing priorities.
  • Experience working within a union environment including collective bargaining negotiations, grievance management, and arbitrations.
  • Travel 50%+ to support local HR teams, establish a strong presence and develop deep understanding of unique locations and business environments. First six months may require higher level of travel to get to know the business/people. Occasional travel outside region may also be required for national level meetings and events.

  • Seasoned HR professional able to confidently contribute to building and executing against our HR goals and the overall effectiveness of the HR function.
  • Ability to flex leadership and communication style to meet the needs of local, regional and national level operations partners, building the trust and confidence of our partners at all levels.
  • Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve emotional and complex problems or issues, by using judgment that is in consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law.
  • Capability of prioritizing and handling multiple projects simultaneously, under tight time constraints.
