Through a full range of services, including case management, educational instruction and advocacy, we focus on preparing individuals for the world of work by helping them find and keep productive and meaningful employment.
General SummaryThe Resource Room Coordinator is responsible for providing a wide variety of group and individual skill‑building services to facilitate client job acquisition and retention within a resource room environment. The Coordinator directs client flow during assessment testing, collects and files completed assessments, keeps job boards updated with potential leads, and assists clients with basic independent job search skills such as resume writing, "Google" searches, setting up an email address, and registering with Illinois Work Net and other job‑seeker websites.
The Coordinator tracks Resource Room usage by documenting client attendance, services rendered, and job starts in both Salesforce and IWDS systems.

- Serve as stakeholder interface and coach; support clients to effectively use tools in the resource room (word processing, resume writing, internet job searches, and related training software).
- Provide individual coaching to clients who access the Resource Room.
- Monitor all Resource Room equipment (computers, printers, laptop, LCD projector, headphones, fax machine, etc.) to ensure maintenance and security, reporting any missing or broken items.
- Monitor client phone and internet usage and report inappropriate usage to management immediately.
- Conduct Safer Foundation orientation to all clients seeking services twice daily.
- Ensure clients complete Illinois Work Net assessments and required funder paperwork for Retention Services.
- Engage in stakeholder outreach and recruitment.
- Provide coaching/mentoring to clients, building rapport to facilitate job starts through Resource Room usage.
- Document self‑placements in AXIOM and report monthly with verification documentation.
- Track, document, and report contractual requirements accurately and on time.
- Update job boards weekly to reflect job leads organized by industry.
- Provide job leads to all participants using the Resource Room regardless of Safer Foundation registration.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of human behavior and individual differences (ability, personality, interests, learning, and motivation).
- Knowledge of computer‑based applications such as Microsoft Office, Salesforce, Illinois Work Net, and "Google" for job search.
- Ability to actively listen and convey information to others effectively.
- Skilled in critical thinking, judgment and decision‑making.
- Hands‑on experience and self‑sufficiency with Microsoft productivity tools (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and online collaboration tools (video conferencing, Zoom/Teams, messaging).
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two years work experience preferred.
