Senior DevOps Engineer

Lead Octave‑X’s infrastructure, reliability, and deployment foundations for frontier AI systems.

Octave‑X is building the infrastructure layer for safe, production‑grade AI. Our customers depend on us for reliability, security, and uptime as they deploy mission‑critical systems on top of our platform.

We are looking for a Senior Dev Ops Engineer who can lead architecture and operations for our core environments. You will partner closely with engineering leadership to design systems that scale while staying compliant and observable.

This is a remote‑friendly role with a strong preference for candidates who can collaborate with our Chicago hub during core hours.

• Lead the design and evolution of Octave‑X’s cloud infrastructure across environments.
• Own CI/CD pipelines, deployment strategies, and rollout safety mechanisms.
• Implement observability, alerting, and SLOs for customer‑facing systems.
• Partner with security and compliance to keep infrastructure aligned with SOC 2 and similar standards.
• Mentor other engineers on reliability, incident response, and operational best practices.

• 5+ years of experience in Dev Ops, SRE, or production infrastructure roles.
• Deep experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Hands‑on experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, etc.).
• Proficiency with infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform, Pulumi, or Cloud Formation).
• Strong understanding of networking, security groups, and zero‑trust principles.

• Experience building platforms for ML / data workloads or high‑throughput APIs.
• Background working in regulated or enterprise environments (SOC 2, HIPAA, or similar).
• Familiarity with Git Ops workflows and progressive delivery.
• Experience leading production incident response and postmortems.
• Comfort collaborating across engineering, security, and go‑to‑market teams.

• Ability to join an on‑call rotation and respond to critical incidents.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Salary Range: $160,000 – $230,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Compensation includes competitive salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits.
