Data Assistant FSM/CC

Position at Northwestern University – Data Assistant FSM/CC role within MED-Cancer Center.

NEX/11. Salary range $23.71 - $28.00 per hour. Salary determined by education, experience, internal equity and market data.

Job Summary

Ensures submission and maintenance of accurate, timely, complete, reliable data and reports by implementing data management and quality assurance procedures. Provides feedback to customers and clients regarding systematic data errors or problems. Documents revisions in codebooks and manuals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compile all data for clinical trials managed by the CTO and manage project data including extraction, entry, processing, accuracy, analysis, evaluation to meet project objectives.
  • Serve as resource to new staff regarding quality data entry, maintenance, departmental policies, and assist with data for all teams and occasional audits.
  • Partner with internal/external project and IT staff to create, review, analyze, interpret, summarize and prepare progress and final reports.
  • Provide consultation on appropriate data management, methodological issues and analysis of data.
  • Manage data receipt, tracking and follow up on assigned project(s). Detect trends and report on patterns of errors. Contact customers to obtain missing data.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of data entry or similar experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Successful completion of a full 4‑year bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Experience in data management in a health field, exposure to cancer clinical trials.
  • Computer literate in basic software, internet use, and cancer‑related databases.
Competencies
  • Ability to understand complex pathology data and cancer treatment regimens and toxicity.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, physicians, nurses, technicians and co‑workers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Medical terminology knowledge.
