Job Title: Data Science Engineer
Location:
Chicago, IL-Remote/Hybrid
About Us:
At Predictive Sales AI (PSAI), we’re redefining how technology and intelligence transform digital marketing. Our AI-powered software enables home services businesses to make smarter, faster decisions—fueling growth through automation, prediction, and precision.
We’re seeking a Data Science Engineer to build, scale, and operate the data and ML foundations behind predictive sales AI (lead scoring, pipeline risk, churn/renewal prediction, forecasting, and next‑best‑action recommendations). In this role, you’ll partner closely with Data Science, Product, and Operations to deliver trusted data products and production‑ready model pipelines that drive measurable revenue impact.
Job Overview:
As a Data Science Engineer you will build and run reliable, scalable data pipelines that bring together CRM, marketing, product, and external data into well‑modeled warehouse/lakehouse datasets. You’ll ensure data is accurate and production‑ready through strong quality checks, monitoring, SLAs, and continuous improvements, while optimizing performance and cost. You’ll also partner with engineering and analytics/ML teams to design instrumentation, integrate new sources, and deliver ML‑ready datasets and feature pipelines, supported by solid documentation, CI/CD practices, and team mentorship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and operate scalable data pipelines (batch and, where needed, near‑real‑time) that ingest data from CRMs, marketing platforms, product events, and external sources.
- Develop and optimize warehouse/lakehouse models to support predictive modeling and customer reporting (clean schemas, documented definitions, efficient querying).
- Implement data quality and reliability standards: automated validation, anomaly detection, audits, and reconciliation; drive corrective action and prevention.
- Own production readiness for pipelines: monitoring, alerting, SLAs, incident response, and postmortems with durable improvements.
- Support ML workflows by producing ML‑ready datasets and feature pipelines that are time‑aware and leakage‑resistant.
- Integrate new data sources via APIs, connectors, and event streams; design secure and maintainable ingestion patterns.
- Partner with engineering on product initiatives by advising on instrumentation, data architecture, and scalable integration approaches.
- Improve performance and cost through query tuning, incremental processing, partitioning, and compute/storage optimization.
- Contribute to automation and CI/CD for data workflows: version control, testing, deployment processes, and environment management.
- Document systems and best practices (data contracts, runbooks, lineage, ownership) and mentor junior team members through reviews and pairing.
Desired Traits:
We are looking for an individual who is organized, proactive, and detail‑oriented. In this role, you will work closely with teams across the company. Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Ownership mindset with a reliability‑first approach
- Strong SQL/Python and a high attention to data quality
- Scales systems thoughtfully (performance/cost aware, maintainable designs)
- Collaborative communicator across engineering, Rev Ops, and analytics
- Documents well and supports others through reviews/mentorship
Required
Skills and Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering (or equivalent experience delivering production‑grade pipelines).
- Strong proficiency in SQL and Python (or Scala).
- Hands‑on experience with cloud data services (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and modern data warehouses/lake houses.
- Experience with distributed processing tools such as Spark/Databricks (or similar).
- Working knowledge of data modeling (dimensional modeling, normalization) and performance optimization.
- Comfortable operating production systems (monitoring, alerting, incident response) and collaborating across teams.
Why Join Us?
- Innovative Environment: Be part of a forward‑thinking company that values creativity and encourages the exploration of new ideas.
- Professional Growth: Access opportunities for continuous learning and career advancement within a supportive and dynamic team.
