Job Description – Managing Delivery Architect – API Architect (053252)

Local Required (Local is requested, but will accept out of area as long as candidate is willing to relocate to Chicago and is working Chicago hours now)
As the API Platform Architect, you will engage with technical and business stakeholders to understand business needs and guide the overall direction of the eCommerce API Platform. You will ensure the platform stays current with modern delivery and engineering practices, lead modernization projects, and drive organizational and cultural change to solve complex technology problems. A passion for software and IT, hands‑on experience building pet projects, and active coding skills are required.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with other Stack Architects (Mobile, Web, Restaurant) to define common standards, patterns, and practices.
- Develop architecture that supports product requirements, including performance, scalability, security, and manageability.
- Present and defend architecture, design, and technique choices to internal and external audiences.
- Sustain the ongoing transformation to a Continuous Deployment model through high-level automation.
- Support the Technical Design Authority to ensure consistency in implementation across Product Capability teams.
- Proactively learn new technologies, standards, and applications; stay current with industry developments.
- Be ultimately accountable for the delivery of architecture and engineering projects within the API Platform scope.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Demonstrated leadership experience and excellent communication skills.
- Architect experience in a Cloud‑Native environment (Microservices, Docker/Kubernetes, API Gateway…).
- Experience implementing Infrastructure‑as‑Code and Configuration‑as‑Code initiatives.
- Experience with Agile and Extreme Programming methodologies.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously without sacrificing detail.
- Self‑directed, initiative‑driven, and autonomous within a highly communicative team structure.
- Commercial experience with Java, .NET, C#, or cloud technologies.
- Design and validate complex architecture and ensure successful implementation.
- Identify and challenge IT scenarios by considering the business environment.
- Act as a stream lead at the CIO/CTO level in major client organizations.
- Lead Capgemini operations related to market development and/or service delivery excellence.
- Serve as a role model in the community.
- 12+ years experience, Bachelor’s Degree.
- Certification: TOGAF 9, IAF Level 1, and pursuing Level 2.
- Experience in foundation, people leadership, service & delivery.
- Proficient in client acquisition & development and business leadership.
- Masters in technology awareness, leveraging, innovation, and capability growth.
