Senior Infrastructure Engineer

EDX is seeking a full‑time Senior Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement and maintain the infrastructure behind our highly available, high-performance distributed systems, which process trades and interact with blockchain networks and banking systems. In this role you will collaborate with stakeholders across the business, learn the ins and outs of the digital asset space, and help evolve the platform. This role reports to the Head of Infrastructure.

EDX is a digital assets marketplace and clearinghouse created in collaboration between US retail wealth managers and market makers for secure and compliant trading and clearing of digital assets, which is bringing best practices from existing markets to crypto (e.g., segregation of duties to reduce conflicts of interest between a market maker and an exchange) while mitigating the conflicts of interest in current digital asset markets.

• Design highly resilient, scalable distributed systems across AWS and on‑prem Linux systems
• Implement designs using infrastructure as code (Open Tofu, Kubernetes, Ansible)
• Implement security controls across cloud, network and CI/CD
• Deploy and patch new infrastructure and applications
• Monitor production infrastructure and lead production support and debugging
• Improve observability and alerting
• Automate operational tasks and turn manual procedures into runbooks

• 4+ years in infrastructure, SRE or platform engineering
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Production AWS experience, ideally across multiple accounts
• Deep Terraform or Open Tofu experience: module design, state management, imports and safely refactoring live infrastructure
• Kubernetes (EKS) and Helm in production
• CI/CD pipeline design and security (Git Hub Actions, Spacelift or similar)
• Configuration management, ideally Ansible
• Strong networking: VPC design, firewalls and inspection, load balancers, DNS and TLS
• Python and Bash scripting
• A track record of tracing production incidents to their root cause
• On‑call and production support experience for 24/7 systems

• Financial market infrastructure: exchanges, clearing, FIX, or low‑latency messaging such as Aeron
• Spacelift, Datadog, Pager Duty, Twingate, Auth0, Podman
• Regulated environments
