We are hiring a senior, hands-on OCI Infrastructure Engineer to support a major U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs cloud operations and migration program. This is a remote role for an engineer who has operated Oracle Cloud Infrastructure in production—not just completed training or supported Oracle applications—and can lead technical work across cloud networking, compute, storage, security, monitoring, and automation.
The role supports the ongoing operation, optimization, and modernization of a large enterprise cloud environment. You will partner with application teams, system administrators, cloud engineers, security stakeholders, and program leadership to maintain reliable, secure, compliant OCI services and help migrate or operate VA applications in the cloud.
What You'll Do- Operate and improve production Oracle Cloud Infrastructure environments supporting enterprise applications and services.
- Provision and manage OCI networking, including VCNs, subnets, route tables, gateways, DRGs, VPNs, Fast Connect, load balancers, private endpoints, security lists, and network security groups
. - Manage OCI compute and storage services, including compute instances, block volumes, file storage, object storage, archive storage, backups, and VM images
. - Support OCI infrastructure associated with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and other mission-critical application environments.
- Configure and support OCI security services, including IAM, Cloud Guard, Bastion, Vault/Key Management, certificates, vulnerability scanning, security zones, and network security controls
. - Monitor and troubleshoot production environments using OCI Monitoring, Logging, Log Analytics, Stack Monitoring, Ops Insights, Notifications, OS Management Hub, and related tools
. - Respond to availability, performance, security, capacity, and vulnerability issues; lead root-cause analysis and implement durable corrective actions.
- Support Linux/Red Hat and/or Windows systems administration, including patching, hardening, image management, and OS-level vulnerability remediation.
- Develop technical standards, documentation, runbooks, SOPs, and repeatable cloud operating processes.
- Automate infrastructure and operations using Terraform/HCL, OCI Resource Manager, Ansible, Python, JSON, Git Hub, CI/CD, or comparable tools
. - Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, coordinate across infrastructure and application teams, and help drive delivery against program objectives.
- Work within a security-conscious federal environment with disciplined change management, documentation, compliance, and operational governance.
- 6+ years of hands-on experience configuring, operating, and supporting Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) in production environments.
- Hands-on experience with OCI infrastructure services across networking, compute, storage, security, monitoring, and cloud operations.
- Strong experience with one or more OCI service areas:
- Networking: VCN, DRG, Fast Connect, VPN, DNS, gateways, load balancers, private endpoints.

- Experience creating technical standards, runbooks, SOPs, architecture guidance, and repeatable processes across cloud and on-premises environments.
- Experience troubleshooting production infrastructure incidents, performing root-cause analysis, and improving monitoring, automation, reliability, or security posture.
- Current cloud certification—or a recently passed certification exam—at Associate, Professional, or Specialty level in OCI, AWS, Azure, or GCP
