We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented SQL Developer with more than 5 years of professional experience. This role requires a strong command of T-SQL, data manipulation, and report generation. The candidate should be capable of interpreting complex requirements, optimizing query performance, and ensuring data quality through proper testing and documentation.
RequirementsKey Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain intricate T-SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions.
- Analyze and convert business requirements into efficient, accurate SQL code, with correct handling of NULLs, outer joins, and date/time ranges.
- Execute data transformations, cleansing, validation, and enrichment tasks.
- Compose and schedule custom data scripts for insertion, updating, deletion, and movement operations, using transactions and appropriate isolation levels to guarantee consistent results.
- Design, generate, and maintain reports using business intelligence and reporting tools, and validate report output against source data.
- Engage in code reviews, peer programming, and unit testing cycles.
- Enhance existing queries to improve performance and scalability by analyzing execution plans, statistics, and index usage.
- Investigate data issues, perform root cause analysis, reconcile discrepancies between source systems, reports, and application screens, and assist with data integrity initiatives.
- Administer job automation and support ETL processes where necessary.
- Ensure comprehensive documentation of SQL logic, data dictionaries, and version histories.
- Participate in sprint planning, refinements, and collaborative solution development.
Skills & Experience:
- Four or more years of practical experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL.
- Strong expertise in crafting optimized queries, procedures, and scripts.
- Solid understanding of SQL logical query processing, three-valued logic (NULL handling), and inner vs. outer join semantics.
- Experience with stored procedures, triggers, indexing, and query performance enhancement, including execution plan analysis, statistics, sargable predicates, implicit conversions, and parameter sniffing.
- Knowledge of transaction isolation levels, locking, and row versioning (such as READ COMMITTED SNAPSHOT), and of the data-accuracy risks of NOLOCK.
- Thorough understanding of relational database concepts and data normalization.
- Proficient in working with substantial datasets, including joins, subqueries, common table expressions (CTEs), aggregations, and window functions, producing deterministic results when ties occur.
- Experience with date/time data types, UTC and time-zone conversions, and audit-trail data.
- Experience utilizing version control tools such as Git for managing SQL artifacts.
- Capability to interpret entity-relationship diagrams (ERDs), functional specifications, and data mapping documents.
- Demonstrated experience in writing unit tests and collaborating with quality assurance teams.
- Familiarity with data export/import procedures, including bulk operations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain and justify technical decisions.
- More than 5 years of experience working with SQL.
- Experience with enterprise reporting tools.
- Exposure to contemporary business intelligence platforms such as Thought Spot, Power BI, or Tableau.
- Experience in migrating reports across different tools.
- Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
- Basic understanding of data warehousing or ETL tools is advantageous.
- Exposure to Dev Ops practices or CI/CD processes for SQL deployments is a plus.
- Experience working in the Life Sciences industry, particularly in regulated environments such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or clinical research.
- Familiarity with GxP compliance (Good Clinical Practice, Good Manufacturing Practice, etc.), FDA regulations, and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements.
- Proven ability to work with sensitive medical or clinical data while maintaining data integrity, traceability (audit trails, change history), and confidentiality.
- Experience supporting systems or databases used in clinical trials (such as EDC platforms), drug safety, or regulatory submissions is a strong plus.
100% Remote.
Opportunity to work on projects worldwide.
Access to E-learning platforms.2 weeks of paid time off.
Certification coverage.
