About

the Role

As a member of AXIS Specialty A&H, you will work with Managing General Underwriters (MGUs) and Program Managers to develop, analyze, review, evaluate, and monitor new and renewal accounts for Leisure Travel coverage. You will act within established guidelines to serve both existing partnerships and new opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Perform all underwriting roles for Leisure Travel business.
  • Underwriting existing A&H Partners:
    • Evaluate cases received from MGUs and Program Managers.
    • For complex opportunities, review and evaluate submissions to determine risk acceptability and coverage levels; coordinate with the Actuarial team for approvals.
    • Collaborate with program managers and external MGUs/Program Managers to obtain additional information needed to establish new business or renewal positions.
    • Work with Legal, Product, Operations, and Business Development to modify existing MGUs/Programsn
    • Develop and maintain internal and external producer/program relationships.
    • Set appropriate premium rates, issue proposals for programs/cases, and draft letters of intent when appropriate.
    • Conduct an annual portfolio review to determine renewal positions for the book of business.
  • Reporting:
    • Update and maintain Monthly Specialty A&H Underwriting Reports.
    • Create ad hoc reports as needed.
  • Policy Issuance:
    • Create and issue all policies not within the Template authority delegated to MGUs/MGAs.
    • Maintain underwriting discipline to achieve targeted loss ratios and combined ratios through the selection and renewal process.
    • Manage day‑to‑day tasks of the assigned risk portfolio.
    • Act as liaison between internal functional departments and external vendors.
    • Handle special projects and assignments at the request of A&H leadership.
    • Ensure digital files are maintained per AXIS Insurance procedures, including proper documentation, structure, and authorizations.

You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities, and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Mathematics, Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field (preferred).
  • At least two (2) years of Accident & Health underwriting experience (P&C experience helpful but not required).
  • At least three (3) years working with and overseeing

    GUs or Program Managers.
  • Market segment knowledge:
    Leisure Travel.
  • Product knowledge:
    Accidental Death, Accident Medical Expense, Catastrophic Medical, Disability, Participant Accident, Out of Country Medical Insurance, and Leisure Travel Insurance (a plus).
  • Ability to work with large data sets to evaluate past performance and use data to determine acceptable rating metrics.

Role Factors
  • Travel required (10%).
  • Attend broker events in evenings and occasionally at weekends as required.
Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range: $110,000 – $150,000. Salary offer will be based on experience and location. You will also receive competitive target incentive compensation tied to overall corporate and individual performance.
