Position: Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster

Job Description

We are seeking a highly capable Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster to join our in‑office team (5 days/week) from any Argo Group location. This role reports to a manager based in North Carolina and focuses on adjudicating workers’ compensation indemnity claims in AZ, CA, FL, and MA, contributing directly to exceptional results for our clients.

Primary Responsibilities

Adjudicate workers’ compensation claims of higher technical complexity within established authority.
Investigate claims promptly and thoroughly, including interviews and detailed policy/coverage analysis.
Resolve moderately complex issues requiring broad understanding of claims and business impacts.
Manage litigated files and maintain accurate reserves in accordance with Argo’s reserving standards.
Ensure timely claim progression through effective diary and task management.
Identify loss trends and drivers to reduce claim frequency and severity.
Prepare clear, concise file documentation and reports for management and underwriters.
Apply creative, cost‑effective solutions to achieve optimal financial outcomes.
Negotiate settlements within authority using effective negotiation strategies.
Coordinate internal and external experts to support case resolution.
Communicate professionally with insureds, claimants, attorneys, underwriters, and internal partners.
Prioritize workload, manage correspondence, and maintain strong overall claim management discipline.
Core Qualifications.

Core Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required, or two insurance designations, or four additional years of WC adjusting experience in lieu of degree.
At least 2 years’ experience handling workers’ compensation claims in AZ, CA, FL, and MA.
Licensed in FL, RI, or TX; must be able to quickly obtain licenses in all required jurisdictions (within 120 days).
Strong business acumen with understanding of how claims impact company and client profitability.
Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and independent decision‑making.
Strong execution skills—solution‑oriented, resilient, and able to deliver consistent results.
Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.
Effective time‑management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
Strong evaluation, negotiation, and strategic thinking skills.
Customer‑focused mindset with the ability to articulate claim value to stakeholders at all levels.
Understanding of dispute‑resolution mechanisms such as mediation and arbitration.
High degree of professionalism, integrity, curiosity, and commitment to doing the right thing.
Proficient in MS Office and related business systems; fluent in English.
Commitment to ongoing professional development.

Salary Range

Albany & Chicago: $84,500 — $99,500
Los Angeles & New York City: $92,000 — $108,400
Compensation is based on location and experience. All employees are eligible for an annual performance bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
