Schedule: As Needed Part-Time Essential Services Position; requires day/night shifts, including weekends and holidays. Classified as non-exempt (eligible for overtime).

Hourly Rate: $28.73/hr

Job Summary: Our linguists perform real‑time transcriptions from Spanish Caribbean dialects to English, collect, analyze, and decode colloquialisms, extract pertinent information, and communicate findings to law enforcement agents. Responsibilities include transcribing source documents from various media.

• Listen to oral and written intercepts or pre‑recorded communications in Spanish and provide verbal and written synopsis and transcriptions as applicable.
• Relate all pertinent information to the client during live projects.
• Contribute to a master‑list of slang words and codes used by particular groups or organizations throughout the project.
• Maintain a voice library for the duration of the project.
• Transcribe and translate pertinent calls and documents as assigned by supervisor.
• Produce court‑ready transcriptions of pertinent calls, chats, and documents following required format.
• Use various reference tools created during the project.
• Transcribe a minimum of 16 minutes of recorded conversation in an 8‑hour day.
• Operate specialized software equipment (JSI voice box, Pen‑Link, Comverse, etc.).
• Maintain daily log of productivity.
• Perform related duties as assigned within scope of practice.

• Bachelor’s degree & 3 years professional experience, or Associate degree & 5 years, or High School Diploma & 7 years.
• Minimum 1 year transcription experience in the required language.
• Select applicants will undergo background investigation and may need to qualify for classified information access.
• Must be U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.
• Knowledge of source language colloquialisms and expressions.
• Knowledge of SMS language, social media, and Webchat.
• Excellent verbal and written skills in the target and English languages; score 3 or better on third‑party Language Assessment.
• Strong computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to work under pressure, fast‑paced environment, communicate effectively.
• Strong prioritization, time‑management, meet stringent deadlines, team environment.
• Take technical direction and feedback.
• Type 45 words per minute.

• Mobility to attend meetings.
• Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: 0%‑10% of time.

• Fingering/Grasping/Feeling:
  Must write, type, use telephone system 100% of time.
• Seated for prolonged periods monitoring live/taped calls; may have restricted desk leave when handling live monitoring and translating calls.
