A mid-size Chicago-based insurance defense firm is seeking an ambitious, ABA‑certified Paralegal to join our team. Position OverviewThe Paralegal will provide critical support to attorneys by managing a variety of litigation‑related tasks. Responsibilities include case file management, assisting attorneys with case preparation, drafting legal documents, maintaining electronic databases, and client reporting. The ideal candidate will be detail‑oriented, highly organized, and possess strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
Primary Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive administrative support to multiple attorneys and partners.
- Assist with the preparation of discovery, pleadings, and motions.
- Draft and update client reports.
- Organize, review, summarize, and draft documents.
- Conduct basic research on court rules and litigation trends.
- Manage requests for medical records and communicate with physicians and facilities.
- Analyze medical records and prepare summaries.
- Perform electronic filing in federal and state courts.
- Correspond with clients, opposing counsel, and court clerks.
- Assist with all aspects of trial preparation.

- Bachelor’s degree.
- Paralegal Certificate (ABA‑accredited preferred).
- 5+ years of insurance defense experience, specifically asbestos litigation experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with advanced Excel knowledge.
- Experience using court docket search databases (PACER, Lexis Nexis, Pohlman, Westlaw, etc.).
- Familiarity with e‑discovery and trial software (NextPoint, Relativity, etc.).
- Ability to manage time efficiently and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong prioritization skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Adaptability and ability to quickly acquire new skills.
- Previous experience in civil litigation.
$65,000–$80,000 (DOE). The pay offered may vary based on factors such as job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Eligible employees may also receive bonus opportunities and other forms of compensation.
