Job Description Summary

Pay Pal’s Legal Team is looking for an experienced attorney to join its litigation team. In this role, you will work closely with fellow litigation team members and internal stakeholders to coordinate and manage all aspects of litigation through trial. This position will manage a case load, driving alignment on case strategy, budget, and staffing while also advising internal stakeholders on trends in litigation, and changes in relevant statutes and regulations.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Lead functional projects and programs, ensuring alignment with business objectives and legal requirements.
  • Provide specialized legal advice and support, particularly in high-demand areas such as data privacy, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify issues and recommend best practices, leveraging industry knowledge and legal expertise to guide decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, implementing robust compliance programs and conducting regular audits.
  • Manage legal risks and safeguard Pay Pal's legal interests, developing strategies to address emerging legal challenges.
  • Represent Pay Pal in litigation and other legal proceedings, collaborating with external counsel and managing case strategies.
Expected Qualifications
  • 5+ years relevant experience and a Juris Doctor degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Responsibilities &

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years of relevant work experience and at least 3 as an attorney.
  • This is a midlevel attorney role requiring a demonstrated proficiency and experience in all aspects of litigation management.
  • Juris Doctor degree with an active license to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.
  • Litigation experience at a law firm or in-house legal department handling commercial and consumer litigation, especially state and/or federal claims applicable to the financial services industry.
  • Ability to quickly assess legal exposure and provide concise advice to internal stakeholders, including reporting to senior leadership.
  • Fast‑paced, self‑starter with experience taking ownership of a complex caseload.
  • Strong influence, collaboration, and inclusive leadership skills at all levels.
  • Excellent project management, stakeholder alignment, and team coordination.
  • Experience vetting and hiring outside counsel and expert witnesses.
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proactive mindset.
  • Team player comfortable with a dynamic, collaborative environment.
  • Skilled oral and written communicator.
  • Familiarity with Pay Pal, mobile payments, emerging payment technology, and the payments industry.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous recordkeeping.
  • Prior experience in the financial services industry is preferred.
  • Some travel required, often out of state.

Compensation

The U.S. national annual pay range for this role is $123,500 to $212,850. Actual compensation is based on location, skills, and experience, and may include performance bonuses, equity, and medical, dental, vision, and other benefits.
