Senior Counsel - Credit Investment Firm

Overview

A leading Credit Investment Firm is seeking a Senior Counsel to join their lean legal team and play a key role in a variety of transactional and general corporate matters. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this role advises on large lending and capital markets transactions, collaborates with internal business units, advises senior leadership on strategic initiatives, and provides legal support to investment funds/advisors.

This position sits in the firm's Chicago office 2 days a week.

• Provide general corporate legal support to investment funds, investment advisors, and more on fund governance, regulatory requirements, etc.
• Advise internal business units and senior leadership on transactional matters, public company disclosure, regulatory filings, legal entity maintenance, and more.
• Oversee special projects such as fund launches, the development of new investment products, and more; warehouse facilities, CLOs, BDCs, etc.
• Monitor regulatory developments and corporate governance practices to advise the business accordingly; SEC requirements, marketing materials related to investment funds/products, etc.

• JD from an accredited law school.
• 6+ years of general corporate work; experience handling lending transactions.
• Deep familiarity with corporate credit and capital markets.
• Familiarity with 1940 Acts, public company, asset management, and related regulatory frameworks.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
