Under the supervision of the Director of Access to Justice and Strategic Planning, and in collaboration with other AOIC leadership, this work is performed with considerable independence and latitude for professional judgment.

Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts, 222 N. LaSalle St., 13 Floor, Chicago, IL 60601, United States.
- Serve as in-house legal counsel for the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts on all matters relating to compliance with the ADA and related statutes.
- Provide legal advice, technical assistance, and training to AOIC leadership, court personnel, and judges on issues related to accessibility and the ADA.
- Support the Court Disability Coordinators for the reviewing and circuit courts, guiding them on reasonable accommodation requests, grievances, and appeals.
- Project manage the WCAG 2.1 AA web content compliance project and ongoing ADA compliance for web content.
- Administer the court disability grant and pursue additional grant and funding opportunities.
- Provide staff support and serve as the AOIC representative to judicial branch committees, task forces, boards, and commissions.
- Conduct legal research, draft Supreme Court rules, orders, and policies, and assist in agenda preparation for the Administrative Director.
- Provide legal advice on application of key statutes and guidance on qualifications, reasonable accommodations, physical access, and service animals.
- Provide technical assistance for compliance with the Illinois Supreme Court Policy on People with Disabilities.
- Conduct CDC training with the Illinois Attorney General’s office for Court Disability Coordinators and other judicial branch audiences on disability access, cultural responsiveness, and best practices.
- Support Court Disability Coordinators for the six reviewing courts, including guidance on managing reasonable accommodation requests, grievances, and appeals.
- Support Court Disability Coordinators in circuit courts across Illinois, offering technical assistance related to ADA, accommodations, grievances, and Policy requirements.
- Project manage the web content compliance project and ongoing ADA compliance for Illinois courts.gov.
- Ensure all state vendor agreements include accessibility enforce ability.
- Handle HR-related ADA questions, build a hiring pipeline for people with disabilities, and create an accommodation review process.
- Administer the court disability grant, ensuring compliance with funding requirements and objectives, and pursue additional grant and funding opportunities.
- Provide staff support and serve as AOIC representative to committees, task forces, boards, and commissions.
- Direct assigned staff, providing guidance and performance oversight.
- Conduct legal research and provide counsel on non-case matters across the judicial branch.
- Draft and revise Supreme Court rules, orders, and policies.
- Research and draft vote memoranda and agenda items for the Administrative Director’s agenda.
- Attend trainings, meetings, and conferences as required.
- Maintain an active Illinois bar license for the duration of employment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Juris Doctorate from an ABA‑accredited law school and seven years of relevant experience, preferably in disability law or court administration.
- Licensed to practice law in Illinois or ability to become licensed prior to employment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of ADA principles, scope, and process.
- Ability to advise and interact with management and stakeholders, analyze complex data, and communicate effectively.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Professional Suite.
Resident of Illinois or willing to relocate. Must be able to sit for extended periods, use a telephone, process written documents, operate a computer, and travel throughout the state including overnight stays.

SalaryMinimum range: $114,482. Starting salary may be greater based on experience and education.
