About the Opportunity

We're seeking an Associate Attorney with 2-5 years of civil litigation experience to join the firm's General Liability Defense practice. This team handles a diverse portfolio of matters, including premises liability, construction accidents, auto and trucking claims, negligent security, and personal injury defense.

This role is ideal for a motivated litigator looking to sharpen trial skills, gain courtroom experience, and work directly with partners who are leaders in their field.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of general liability matters from inception through resolution with partner oversight
• Draft and argue motions, including dispositive and discovery motions
• Conduct and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts
• Prepare pleadings, discovery responses, and legal correspondence
• Communicate effectively with clients, claims professionals, and opposing counsel
• Attend mediations, hearings, and trials as required
• Maintain accurate time records and meet billing requirements

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
• Admitted to the Illinois Bar and in good standing (required)
• 2-5 years of civil litigation experience, ideally in general liability or insurance defense
• Exceptional legal writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
• Strong organization, attention to detail, and case management abilities
• Deposition and motion practice experience preferred
• Trial experience a plus
