Chicago Law Clerk (Externship) at K&L Gates

We are looking for smart, imaginative, and hard‑working people with diverse backgrounds to support our Chicago trademark practice. The ideal candidate is a current student at a Chicago‑area law school with the ability to occasionally work in the Chicago office. A demonstrated interest in intellectual property and trademark law is preferred.
Responsibilities- Assist attorneys with trademark research, drafting, and filing.
- Prepare memoranda, client correspondence, and pleadings.
- Collaborate with senior lawyers for active mentoring and increasing responsibility.
- Work independently and as part of a team to meet client and firm deadlines.
- Currently enrolled in a Chicago‑area law school.
- Strong academic credentials and excellent communication skills.
- Strong interest in intellectual property and trademark law.
- Self‑starter who can work independently and in a team.
- Commitment to delivering high‑quality client service.
Base compensation: $50 per hour, up to 15 hours per week during the school year. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on experience and market factors.
