Overview
AmTrust Financial Services has an immediate need for aParalegalon its Midwest Workers' Compensation Staff Counsel team in Chicago.
Responsibilities- Review and analyze files before scheduled hearings, including written pre-hearing reports for multiple attorneys;
- Pull, organize, and bookmark medical records on a regular basis;
- Schedule examinations with vendors and facilities;
- Work with vendors to request and obtain records via subpoena/medical authorization; follow up and organize/summarize upon receipt;
- Assist attorneys with research and drafting documents for litigation;
- Assist attorneys with answering and issuing discovery;
- Compose routine correspondence;
- Communicate by phone with attorneys, claims professionals, opposing counsel, medical providers, and courts;
This is a deadline-driven work environment. The ability to stay organized, self-motivate, work independently, and collaborate on a team is vital. Excellent time management is a must.
Qualifications- The ideal applicant has 3+ years of litigation experience.
- 2+ years of Workers compensation defense exposure.
- Experience in Minnesota workers’ compensation litigation is a plus.
- An associate or bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate is a plus.
- Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing deadlines.
- The position requires reading and comprehending complex instructions from attorneys and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Experience working in an all-inclusive document management platform is required
The expected salary range for this role is $25/hr-$37/hr.
