Dentons US LLP is seeking a Staff Associate to join our sophisticated Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice’s insurance coverage litigation team in Chicago. Candidates should have excellent academic credentials, 3–4 years of complex litigation experience, and proven analytic ability. Ideal candidates will have experience in complex insurance coverage litigation. Our associates work collaboratively with our partners and clients, and are key members of our team.

Expected responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Drafting and preparing pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents
• Conducting legal research and writing
• Managing matters from pretrial through trial
• Handling a variety of litigation matters as needed
• Managing all aspects of discovery
• Analyzing insurance coverage and extra‑contractual disputes, including drafting coverage opinions or other coverage analyses

Salary range: $105,000 to $180,000, based on experience. Dentons US LLP offers a competitive salary and benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), short‑term/long‑term disability, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, paid holidays, and discretionary bonuses.

• Strong writing and analytical skills
• Ability to communicate research into meaningful written work product
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues
• Sound judgment and keen attention to detail

• 3–4 years of experience in a law firm is required
• Strong writing and case management skills, direct experience handling clients and adversaries, and excellent oral advocacy skills are required
• Deposition and court experience is preferred
• Federal District Court or Appellate clerkship experience is a plus
• Insurance coverage litigation experience is a plus

• Admission to, and good standing with, the State of Illinois Bar
• Submission of a cover letter, résumé, law school transcript, and writing sample
