Job Description

Join UChicago Medicine as a Supply Chain Process Transformation Specialist in the Supply Chain Transformation Department. This is a flexible remote opportunity that requires travel to Hyde Park as needed. The role supports redesign of supply chain processes including implementation of JIT and Kanban. Using lean management techniques, the specialist will assist in redesigning campus-wide logistical programs to reduce cycle times and improve material flow and inventory accuracy.

Reporting to the Manager, Systems and Process Engineering, the successful candidate will lead process transformation initiatives and support supply redesign in clinical areas.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Conduct supply chain process improvement activities using tools such as 5S, Standard Work, Managing for Daily Improvement, Value Stream/Process Flow Mapping, and Pull System/Kanban.
  • Work with supply chain area managers to implement process transformations that reduce cycle times, including linen redesign, JIT implementation, dock-to-point-of-use material flow, and inventory accuracy improvement. Assist with roll‑out of a point‑of‑use supply system.
  • Serve as a key team member in designing a campus‑wide logistical program and coordinate logistical planning and implementation to enhance material flow.
  • Collaborate with nursing and procedural areas to implement supply redesign, ensuring clinical supply needs are met while reducing on‑hand inventory value.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training via work experience or education.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Three (3) years of supply‑chain related experience.
  • High level of adaptability and strong interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Four or more years of project management and process improvement experience leading cross‑functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, able to work with imperfect data sets and drive actionable insights.
  • Proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools (Excel, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship‑building across all organizational levels to gain buy‑in for change initiatives.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
