Property Supervisor - Bilingual:
English & Spanish

Hispanic Housing Dev. Corp, a leading provider of affordable housing dedicated to serving communities across a four-state region (IL, IN, WI, MI), is seeking a passionate and experienced Property Supervisor to manage a portfolio of affordable housing residential properties located primarily in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate is a turn‑around specialist with strong management, financial, marketing and customer‑service background as well as extensive knowledge of tax credit and assisted housing programs.

The candidate should also be highly organized, possess strong supervisory and time‑management skills, be bilingual in Spanish, and have a passion for improving people’s lives.

As a Property Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring the successful management and operation of our affordable housing portfolio within your designated region. You will be responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day operations, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, and fostering a supportive and inclusive community environment for our residents. Your dedication to affordable housing and your ability to effectively manage teams and resources will be instrumental in achieving our mission of providing high‑quality housing for all.

Travel to assigned properties within the portfolio as well as the ability to respond to issues outside of normal operating hours are essential job functions of this position. The supervisor’s main office is in the Chicago Loop but will be required to travel to the different sites within the assigned portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day‑to‑day operations of multiple affordable housing properties, including leasing, maintenance, budgeting, and tenant relations.
  • Ensure compliance with affordable housing regulations, including HUD, LIHTC, and other federal, state, and local programs.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize occupancy, minimize turnover, and maintain rental affordability for residents.
  • Provide guidance and support as needed to the Property Manager and staff of each property.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with residents, community partners, and regulatory agencies to address concerns, resolve issues, and promote resident engagement and empowerment.
  • Monitor property financial performance, prepare budgets, and oversee rent collection and delinquency management processes.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders to implement resident services and programs that enhance the quality of life for our residents.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED. College degree in Business or related field a plus.
  • Eight years’ experience in successfully overseeing and managing Section 8, tax credit and other subsidized housing programs.
  • Tax Credit Certification, Accredited Residential Management and Leasing License required.
  • Five years of supervisory experience with a proven record of motivating and managing property management teams.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is required.
  • Success in turning around properties.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong financial analysis experience.
  • Experience working with governmental and community representatives.
  • Good computer skills including working knowledge of MS Office Suite and property management software/systems preferred (Boston Post, Yardi, or MRI).
  • Vehicle, driver's license, and insurance is required.
