About the RoleUniti's Manager of Local Operations leads and manages Network Technicians in Field Operations, encourages teamwork and productivity, and manages functions involving installation and repair of all network‑related equipment and locations. The manager utilizes all aspects of workforce management, monitors adherence of safety practices, monitors and controls expenses, and monitors vehicles. The Manager of Local Operations and his/her team care about technology and connecting customers to products they value.
His/her team of experts create meaningful connections with customers that create long‑term relationships.
- Manage Network Technicians;
Inspect and review work done by each technician on a regular basis for quality of work; ensure technicians are following the correct procedures; initiate disciplinary actions as required; maintain personnel records in preparation for annual reviews. Responsible for the entire network (switch, colo, transport) in assigned/designated area. Chicago/Northern Indiana/Grand Rapids/Detroit - Manage functions involving installation and repair and maintenance of primarily network and some business work: monitor progress of network jobs and inspect after completion; work closely with other groups, OSP/ENG/NOC’s to ensure network stability and projects, and schedule and coordinate jobs cut‑over; handle after‑hours problems and calls for their supervisory area; cover for other supervisory areas as needed.
- Utilize all aspects of workforce management: monitor tasks and work with planner to make needed adjustments; prepare monthly work schedule; monitor employee status all during the day; monitor employee performance reports; input work requests.
- Monitor adherence of safety practices: provide and record safety training and hazard communications and ensure everyone follows safety rules and procedures on a daily basis; maintain OSHA records; investigate and complete accident reports.
- Monitor and control expenses: monitor controllable expenses; control inventory levels in the office and on the technician's vehicles.
- Monitor building, grounds, and vehicles: inspect and maintain all building, grounds, and vehicles.
- Provide budget inputs: prepare budget inputs for needed tools and test sets.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Working knowledge of Outside Plant, Inside Plant, and Fiber Optic Transport Networks is a must.
- Positive attitude and the ability to motivate employees in the areas increased revenue, and productivity.
- Complex problem‑solving skills, strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage people (HR knowledge) and work effectively with other Uniti teams, support groups, and customers.

- Previous experience as a technician.
College degree and 5–7 years professional level experience with 2–3 years supervisory experience; or 9+ years related technical and/or telephony experience; or an equivalent combination of education and technical level related experience required.
