Position Summary

This position serves as the Chief Operating Officer for the Athletics Department and plays a key leadership role in the overall management, strategic planning, and day‑to‑day operations of the department. The incumbent will work closely with the Director of Athletics to provide high‑level oversight, guide departmental initiatives, and offer expert counsel on both short and long‑term operational priorities to ensure the continued growth and success of the athletics program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director of Athletics in the overall management, supervision, and leadership of the department.
  • Serve as Chief Operating Officer for Athletics, advising the Director on strategic initiatives, policy and procedure development, and the planning, allocation, and oversight of departmental resources.
  • Ensure stability and sustainability departmental budget in compliance with University policy and procedures.
  • Serve as chief representative for Athletics concerning external and internal audits.
  • Develop and administer policies and procedures to ensure compliance with NCAA and other athletic conference rules, regulations and risk management procedures and protocols to minimize the risk of liability.
  • Collaborate with University offices and community agencies to effectively manage assigned functions.
  • Provide direct supervision to selected sports teams. Ensure fiscal soundness and compliance with intercollegiate rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Oversee the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics in absence of the Director of Athletics.
  • Represent the University at appropriate Missouri Valley Conference, NCAA, and university meetings.
  • Manage internal and external operations based on business needs and qualifications.
  • Oversee all related Special Projects.
  • Implement pillars of the department's mission and strategic plan.
