Metal Shop Apprentice

We are looking for a motivated and hands-on Metal Shop Apprentice to join the Flyhouse growing team. This is a unique opportunity to work directly with an experienced specialty fabricator on a wide range of custom projects — including the fabrication and assembly of custom hoisting equipment. The right candidate will gain hands-on experience and develop advanced skills in metalworking, fabrication, and shop operations.

What you'll do

• Assist in the fabrication and assembly of custom metal products and equipment
• Learn to work with a wide range of materials including steel and aluminum
• Support daily shop operations including measuring, cutting, drilling, and fitting components
• Use tools and equipment such as:
  • CNC brake and CNC waterjet
  • MIG and TIG welders
  • Lathe, mill, punch, and shear
  • Various hand and power tools
• Follow project plans and drawings under the guidance of a lead fabricator
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace

What we're looking for

• Basic experience working with metal in a metal shop setting
• Comfortable using measuring tools, saws, drills, grinders, and other equipment
• Willingness to learn, take direction, and develop advanced fabrication skills over time
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and a solid work ethic
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods
• Safety-conscious and mechanically inclined
• High school diploma or GED preferred

Compensation

• Full-time salaried / Part-time hourly options available
