Laboratory Technician - Chicago

Provide product quality control through sampling and analytical testing of various commodities stored at a terminal facility.

Responsibilities include:

• Perform control charting and equipment calibration as required.
• Customer reporting, including analysis feedback reporting (SAP systems).
• Manage sample retain and retention program.
• Customer Quality Log development, record control, and maintenance.
• Generate Certificate of Analysis (COA) documents.
• Research/create testing programs for new products.
• Perform routine cleaning/maintenance/repair on all lab equipment.
• Order lab equipment and supplies as needed.
• Coverage for other terminal lab technicians and personnel as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• GED, high school diploma, or college degree.
• 1 to 3 years of terminal experience required, and some lab experience preferred.
• Minimum three (3) years of work experience in the petrochemical industry or a refinery.
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization.
• At least 1 or more years of experience performing and detailed knowledge of quantitative and qualitative analysis methodology.
• High level of concentration and very detail-oriented.
• Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, industrial hygiene, and other industry regulations.
• Experience with handling hazardous liquid chemicals.
• Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs, including Word and Excel.
• Must have good customer service skills.
• Superior work ethic and dependability.
• Excellent mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, fractions, multiplication, and percentages) are required.
• Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions as outside work is mandatory year-round.
• Physical requirements include, but may not be limited to, walking up and down stairs/ladders, negotiating uneven surfaces, and carrying up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to wear standard PPE (hard hat, goggles, rain gear, steel toe boots), and qualify to wear a full-face respirator.
• Mandatory drug screening in addition to passing a background check necessary for hire.

Compensation: $30-35 per hour, commensurate with experience and skill set.
