Entry Level Second Shift Packaging Supervisor
Join Vienna Beef as an Entry Level Second Shift Packaging Supervisor. This supervisory position is performed on site and requires a hands‑on presence on the production floor.
Responsibilities- Set daily, weekly, and monthly objectives and communicate them to employees.
- Organize workflow by assigning responsibilities and preparing schedules.
- Manage inventory of raw materials and finished products using ERP software.
- Train, coach, counsel, and discipline employees in a union environment.
- Complete administrative and operational paperwork to comply with USDA and FDA regulatory requirements, including SOPs, HACCP, and GMP.
- Use analytical skills to monitor production output and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Submit reports on performance and progress.
- Employ critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to identify efficiency issues and suggest improvements.
- Ensure the safe use and operation of equipment and request repairs when necessary.
- Arrive to work prior to the scheduled start time.
- Wear proper uniform and PPE before reporting to duty.
- Participate in scheduled meetings and training programs.
- Adhere to the company’s attendance policies.
- Physically capable of working in a refrigerated environment.
- Capable of working on the production floor.
- Capable of working the specified shift hours.
- Capable of lifting a minimum weight of 30 pounds.
- Ability to cooperate with supervisors.
- Accept constructive criticism with an open mind.
- Develop a spirit of cooperation with coworkers and employees.
- Seek guidance from your supervisor when in doubt.
- Communicate with employees to promote efficiency and meet production and safety goals.
- Contact your supervisor an hour prior to start time if you cannot work a scheduled shift.
- Contact maintenance personnel for minor equipment repairs.
- Contact maintenance personnel and supervisor for major equipment repairs.
- Obtain knowledge of the company’s sanitation procedures and inspection process.
- Qualify for and comply with forklift training and operation policies.
- Understand finished product specifications.
- Gain a working knowledge of all production equipment in the department.
- Understand and implement safety procedures and policies.
- Rain suits; aprons; gloves; boots; eye protection; knives; scarabs; hooks; steel; steel mesh gloves and other protective gear.
