Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
- Supervise plant maintenance personnel to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain machinery and support systems at maximum efficiency.
- Follow, maintain, and evaluate preventive maintenance (PM) programs and schedules.
- Administer the "Red Tag" program to monitor adherence to food safety goals through maintenance, sanitation, and quality verification steps.
- Maintain strong working relationships with all other departments.
- Train and cross-train mechanics in both mechanical and electrical repairs on various equipment.
- Respond to breakdowns during off shifts and be available for contact during off hours.
- Complete project jobs from preparing BOM lists to completion.
- Ensure compliance with Company and OSHA rules related to safety, GMPs, security, and PPE policies.
- Ensure compliance with EPA rules and regulations.
- Keep the shop and maintenance areas clean and well-maintained.
- Administer disciplinary action in accordance with Company policy when necessary.
- Isolate repetitive line problems and collaborate with line leaders, Managers, and Chief Engineer for solutions.
- Notify the Plant, Chief Engineer, Managers, and Quality Assurance Manager of pertinent issues in a timely manner.
- Schedule work for maintenance personnel on the shift.
- Communicate and administer all Company policies and procedures consistently.
- Perform all other assigned duties.
- Willingness to work extra hours or extra days if necessary.

Working Relationship:
- Work collaboratively with team members on the production line and maintenance.
- Interface with all department management, leads, and machine operators.
- Assist contractors as needed.
- Work closely with leaders and management.
- Supervise other mechanics.
Physical Demands:
- Involves pushing, pulling, and bending.
- Ability to work on feet for the entire shift.
- Perform tasks requiring standing, lifting, pulling, and climbing machinery and/or tooling.
- Work in high ambient temperatures.
Qualifications/Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Electrical:
Better than average troubleshooting knowledge of 3 phase 480
VAC, control circuits of 110
VAC and 24DC, AB PLCs. - Welding:
Ability to weld with TIG and stick. - Cutting:
Torch, band saw, grinder, plasma cutter. - Fabricating:
Ability to fabricate simple guards, covers, catch pans, etc. - Drilling/Milling:
Knowledge of power drills, drill press, mill, and lathe machines. - MS Office:
Fluent in MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word. - Good communication and leadership skills.
Experience (Years/Type):
- 3 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
- 3 years of prior supervisory experience.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Better than average knowledge of maintenance functions such as electrical, electrical controls, PLCs, plumbing, conveyors, motors/gearboxes, and ability to read schematics/blueprints.
