About the SchoolCristo Rey Jesuit High School was founded in 1996 and provides a Catholic, college preparatory education and professional work experience to students from Spanish‑speaking families across the southwest side of Chicago. The school pioneered the Corporate Work Study Program, allowing students to earn part of the annual cost of education by working one school day a week at a nearby corporation.
This funding model inspired a national network of Catholic high schools serving low‑income families.
The Director of Individual Giving is a mission‑driven, relationship‑oriented fundraiser who serves as a front‑line member of the Advancement team. The incumbent will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors, focusing on growing annual and leadership‑level giving, and align philanthropic interests with institutional priorities.
Responsibilities- Manage a portfolio of approximately 125–150 individual donors, including annual and leadership‑level prospects.
- Personally cultivate, solicit, and steward donors through face‑to‑face meetings and tailored outreach.
- Develop and execute individualized strategies to retain donors, increase giving levels, and strengthen long‑term engagement.
- Serve as a strategic partner to the Vice President of Advancement in shaping individual giving strategies.
- Collaborate with Advancement colleagues, school leadership, and board members to advance fundraising goals.
- Work across departments to align donor interests with Cristo Rey’s programs and funding needs.
- Advance the mission of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School by acting as a visible community ambassador.
- Actively participate in planning and execution of Advancement events, including alumni activities and the VIVA! Gala.
- Support growth of alumni engagement and giving in collaboration with Advancement and Communications.
- Ensure timely, thoughtful, and consistent donor stewardship reflecting Cristo Rey’s mission.
- Accurately track donor interactions in Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT.
- Apply current philanthropy trends while maintaining strong fundraising fundamentals.
- 5+ years of active fundraising solicitation experience.
- Demonstrated success in personally soliciting and closing gifts from individual donors.
- Proven experience managing a donor portfolio and increasing engagement and giving.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent relationship‑building, organizational, and time‑management skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with colleagues and leadership.
- Commitment to the mission of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Exposure to leadership‑level annual giving or early‑stage major gifts.
- Experience in education or other mission‑driven organizations.
- Experience working with board members or volunteer leaders.
- Salary: $90,000 – $100,000 annually.
