Stabile non-vented preemies, Hyperbili, babies requiring IVABX, DCFS (Department of Child and Family Services) holds, drug affected babies
Patient Ratios:
1:3, based on acuity (days and nights)
Nursery RNs also take Postpartum assignments when there are no babies in the ICN.
Required

Certifications:

RN NICU - BLS, NRP, STABLE
RN Nursery – BLS, NRP, STABLE
RN Postpartum – BLS, NRP, STABLE
Skills required
IV start required. IVABx for neonates. Experience in level 2 nursery, resuscitate babies, IV, managing lines, stabilization of neonates, prepare for transfers (may be ventilated while being stabilized for transfer)
Level II Nursery and/or NICU that has attended deliveries as an infant nurse. The listing should also specify that the Nursery RNs also take Postpartum couplets and Gyne patients as well.
Support on the Unit:
Charge nurse takes a patient assignment
RT
Unit secretary (dayshift)
Phlebotomy
Vascular access team
Hospitalist 24/7
Charting System/Equipment:
EPIC
Alaris
Pyxis
Floating:
Could float to other units as helping hands
Orientation:
They get one shift of orientation on a unit to learn the flow.
Scheduling:
Weekend rotation: every other
We can approve up to seven days
Call is required, varies

Blue surgical scrubs will be provided and laundered by the hospital. A personal scrub jacket is allowed except in the OR.
