Salary: $40.53/hr to $88.53/hr (dependent on collective bargaining agreement, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints). The rate offered will typically not be near the top of the full range.
Illinois residency required within 180 days of hire date

Position Summary

Administrative Nurse I directs patient care, related unit activities, and personnel for an assigned shift using the Nursing Process and Relationship‑Based Care model. The Administrator determines and coordinates daily assignments and staff scheduling, and implements or modifies patient care plans in partnership with the nursing and medical team.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and update patient care plans based on ongoing assessment and input from patients, families, and the care team.
  • Advocate for patients, families, and the nursing profession in the community.
  • Integrate evidence‑based research and best practices to deliver quality care status to accrediting bodies.
  • Identify learning needs and pursue professional development opportunities.
  • Solve recurring clinical or unit problems and participate in problem‑solving initiatives.
  • Assist with unit‑based quality/research initiatives and provide feedback and education to staff.
  • Maintain overall awareness of patient status to aid medical team and coordinate workflow for timely admissions and discharges.
  • Assume the role of Charge Nurse as assigned, providing guidance to staff and resolving policy questions.
  • Apply critical thinking, conflict management, and customer service skills as a role model for the organization and unit.
  • Recognize and respond to patient‑care issues, providing direction and feedback to staff and management.
  • Procure necessary clinical supplies and equipment, following up on repairs or maintenance as needed.
  • Contribute to performance evaluation of unit personnel.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned and participate in special projects.
Minimum Qualifications
  • BSN (or higher) from an accredited nursing program.
  • Registered Professional Nurse licensure in Illinois, issued by the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
  • One (1) year of professional nursing experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a clinical area relevant to the assignment.
  • Current BLS/CPR and/or other required unit‑specific certifications.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support, or completion within six months of hire for the main hospital.
  • National certification through an ANCC‑approved certifier, or completion within six months of hire in a relevant clinical area.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 to 5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) with charge nurse duties in an oncology (medical‑surgical) unit, preferably in a bone marrow transplant unit.
  • Current ONS/BMT certification preferred.
