Job SummaryRegistered nurses facilitate unit operations and patient flow under the supervision of the Manager of Cardiology. Duties are performed in a highly confidential manner, in accordance with the mission, values and behaviors of Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, and involve providing high‑quality care, service and kindness toward all patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and guests.
Responsibilities- Anticipate, plan, direct and evaluate the care of the patients provided by Cardiac Catheterization Staff and ancillary personnel.
- Foster the professional development of unit staff through support of the orientation process and other educational activities.
- Direct the flow of patients.
- Monitor the planning, delivery and outcomes of care for the area patient population.
- Collaborate with other health team members to provide coordinated, safe, and compassionate care for patients.
- Function as an expert clinical practitioner and role model for staff according to unit needs.
- Work closely with cardiologists during the performance of invasive procedures and patient outcomes.
- Support the cardiologists, manager, nurse coordinator and unit staff in the performance of invasive procedures.
- Assist during procedures to assure a fast and efficient delivery of care to patients.
- Delegate and adjust care for patient population based on patient acuity and available staff.
- Assist in the performance of invasive procedures such as scrubbing, equipment utilization and hemodynamic computation.
- Document patient status, tests performed and follow‑up plans.
- Actively participate in the operation of therapeutic and interventional equipment.
- Participate in activities leading to quality outcomes.
- Participate in the on‑call schedule.
- Demonstrate dependability and flexibility in schedule.
- Maintain own personal professional growth and development.
- Other duties as assigned.
- No on‑call.
- Monday‑Friday 7 a.m.‑3:30 p.m.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (BSN preferred).
- Current RN license in the State of Illinois.
- Current CPR certification.
- ACLS certification required for critical care and ER.
- Caring attitude.
- Professional appearance.
- Willingness to increase own knowledge and skills and mentor others.
- Ability to relate well to professional and non‑professional staff.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy in carrying out work duties.
- Ability to cooperate effectively with others; a team player.
- Ability to delegate appropriately.
