Advanced Practice Provider, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant – Adult Emergency Department – Nights
Join UChicago Medicine as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) in the Emergency Department. The role delivers comprehensive direct patient care for high volumes of cases, focusing on ESI 3-5 patients, laceration repairs, digital blocks, slit‑lamp and pelvic exams, and splinting. Flexibility to handle fluctuating ED volumes is essential.
Base pay range: $130,900‑$167,200 per year.
Essential Job Functions- Take patient history, conduct examinations, diagnose illness.
- Pre‑ and post‑operative patient evaluation and ordering/interpreting laboratory tests.
- Exercise autonomy in medical decision‑making and provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s of Science in Nursing.
- Current or eligible for State of Illinois RN and APN licensure/registration.
- Certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurse’s Credentialing Center or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
- Ability to obtain Illinois and DEA prescribing numbers.
- Emergency Department experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant educational program.
- Certification in ACLS and by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA); current or eligible for State of Illinois licensure/registration.
- Emergency Department experience.
- Full Time, 1.0 FTE.
- Rotating 12‑hour shifts – Night, 7 p‑7 a.
- Adult Emergency Department.
- Non‑Union.
