Position Summary

The Staff Nurse I provides direct patient care and integrates shared leadership, evidence-based practice, relationship-based care, and nursing standards into clinical practice.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develops, implements, and updates the patient’s plan of care based on ongoing assessment.
  • Shares information and collaborates with other health care team members to promote effective patient care.
  • Verifies and implements orders from physicians and advanced practice nurses and documents accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Engages patient and family to develop an appropriate educational plan.
  • Recognizes symptoms, establishes priorities, and responds to changing needs.
  • Delegates tasks to support personnel per Illinois State Nurse Practice Act and provides support and feedback.
  • Advocates for patients, families, and the community.
  • Integrates evidence-based research and current nursing standards to provide quality patient care.
  • Assumes role of Charge Nurse when assigned.
  • Collaborates with other nurses to provide positive learning experiences for staff and students.
  • Serves as preceptor and resource to other nursing and support staff.
  • Continues professional growth by identifying learning needs.
  • Floats to multiple ambulatory clinic locations including off-sites.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Registered Professional Nurse licensure from Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
  • Current BLS/CPR and other required unit specific certifications.
  • Current advanced cardiac life support or within 6 months of hire for main hospital.
Preferred Qualifications

Minimum 5 years nursing experience.
