About the DepartmentThe Section of Hematology/Oncology has a proud and long tradition of excellence in research‑based patient care and clinical discovery. Ranked among the finest cancer programs in the country, the Section is comprised of nationally and internationally known faculty with expertise in all major types of malignancies, blood disorders, and experimental therapies.
Job SummaryThe Senior Research Technologist will support the Szmulewitz laboratory through close collaboration with the PI, postdoctoral fellows, graduate student(s) and laboratory manager within the Section of Hematology/Oncology in the Department of Medicine.
Responsibilities- Responsible for independently designing and executing experiments.
- Prioritizing experiments in the context of the other projects.
- Troubleshoot experiments with minimal oversight.
- Responsible for data analysis and presentation internally and within publications.
- Coordinate research activities with collaborating laboratories.
- Work closely with other collaborating laboratories and external partners; coordinate meetings, summarize/disseminate meeting notes and action items.
- Training of new laboratory staff and students.
- Support data collection and analytical needs of research projects; conduct literature reviews and help write reports and manuscripts; ensure project compliance with policies.
- Takes responsibility for laboratory duties: recognizing abnormal results and adjusting procedures, setting up and performing experiments, analyzing meaning, significance, causes and effects of the subject.
- Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum:
College or university degree in a related field.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or related field.
Minimum: 2–5 years of work experience in a related discipline.
Preferred:
Relevant research experience.
- Willingness to work with rodents.
- Basic computer skills (including Microsoft Office).
- Knowledge of research techniques and methods.
- Ability to work with little direct oversight.
- Ability to work within a larger research team.
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
