Duties and Responsibilities- Supports research projects focused on stem cell
, regenerative
, and lung biology in mice and human. - Planning, implementation and analysis of research projects, as instructed by Principal Investigator (PI).
- Managing mouse colonies
, including mouse ordering, breeding & genotyping. - Assist tissue harvesting (lung, spleen, blood, BALF, airway), and mouse injections
, such as intraperitoneal, intravenous subcutaneous and intra-tracheal injections. - Establish lung disease modeling in mice following various established injury protocols.
- Assists PI, research staff, and students with lab procedures and projects as needed, such as immunohistochemistry, microscopy, flow cytometry, tissue cell cultures.
- Maintains overall lab organization including ordering supplies, preparing reagents, monitoring equipment and compliance with safety regulations.
- Maintains all study records in secure files.
- Trouble shoots problems with methodology.
- Attends weekly journal clubs, department seminars and lab meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required: Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences.
Preferred: Master's Degree or higher in related fields.
Minimum lab experience: 1-2 years of post-graduation job experience. Previous lab experience with tissue cell culture techniques, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry and microscopy are strongly preferred. Ability to use Adobe Illustrator, Image J and Flowjo are strongly recommended.
Qualifications- Strong interest in science with self-motivation.
- Fast to learn and apply new skills.
- Proficiency with mouse colony management and handling.
- Familiarity with IACUC protocol writing, amendment and ability to follow Vivarium regulations and animal study ethics.
- Ability to multitask and be flexible in planning, coordinating and generating mice for multiple research projects.
- Ability to follow existing protocols and establish new procedures following publicly available methods.
- Ability to function independently and manage own time and work tasks accurately and consistently.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office, Prism, and other routine computer software for data analysis.
- An effective team player with strong interpersonal skills.
