Role overview

Senior UX Researchers have breadth and depth of research method skills applicable to a wide range of questions, and over time develop standout areas of research excellence. The role emphasizes integrating research into the work of colleagues to reach impactful outcomes and turning research into a strategic asset for Agoda's decisions and processes.

Qualifications
  • Masters Degree or PhD or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Science, Psychology, Social Science, or related field
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in consumer-facing business domains
  • Expert in Quantitative research (log analysis, internal metrics triangulation, survey design, response effects, sampling, crosstabs, statistical concepts, etc.)
  • Experience with Qualitative and user-centered design methods (interviews, diary studies, direct observation, think-aloud usability testing, etc.)
  • Comfortable with planning, scoping, conducting, analyzing and communicating research
  • Experience in evaluating, negotiating, and working with external research vendors
  • Ability to describe user problems and business opportunities to stakeholders by leveraging both quantitative and qualitative data
  • Strong storytelling and communication skills to business people, product teams, designers, engineers, and other stakeholders (English)
  • Enjoys collaborative work in a dynamic, data-driven, and creative environment
Responsibilities
  • Conducts research end-to-end for high impact, guiding stakeholders to collaborate effectively with research
  • Initiates research efforts aligned with product vertical goals, with a well-informed understanding of the business
  • Formulates programmes of study and knowledge sharing relevant to strategic objectives
  • Leads projects in collaboration with other stakeholders
  • Assesses pros and cons of various research methodologies and mentors others in techniques and tools
Research & Collaboration skills
  • Evaluates research opportunities, especially ambiguous requests, and shapes solid research projects
  • Manages inbound research requests and proposes solid projects or programs
  • Executes projects with high quality, exploring mixed methods and innovative approaches
  • Deep understanding of quantitative and qualitative research and when to use each
  • Develops expertise in a domain, user type, or method to become the go-to person
  • Triangulates findings across methods and theories for depth of insight
  • Maximizes value and efficiency of research using secondary research and expert inspection
  • Knowledge of tools for surveys, diary studies, analysis, and GDPR/compliance awareness
Communication & Collaboration
  • Drives cross-disciplinary collaboration via research insights
  • Collaborates with other researchers and disciplines with shared ownership
  • Clear, tailored communication for different audiences, open to input
  • Contributes to standards of research excellence across the organization
