Job SummaryThe Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a motivated and collaborative postdoctoral scientist to conduct transformative research in the laboratory of Dr. Shannon Lauberth. The successful candidate will join a team advancing basic and translational studies in cancer epigenetics, focusing on the immune response's protumor activities that challenge effective immunotherapies. The lab, located in the Simpson Querrey Biomedical Research Center in downtown Chicago, utilizes approaches such as RNA-Seq, PRO-Seq, ChIP-Seq, and CyTOF to identify genetic and epigenetic alterations linked to proinflammatory signaling and tumor driver mutations in p53.
Functional validation will involve molecular biology techniques in vitro and in vivo using human cancer cell lines and patient-derived organoids.
- Doctoral degree (PhD or MD/PhD)
- Experience in cancer biology, tumor microenvironment, tumor immunology, and cancer genetics/epigenetics preferred
- First-author publications in peer-reviewed journals are a plus
- Molecular biology techniques: DNA, RNA, protein isolation, Western blotting, PCR, cloning, sequencing, recombinant virus production, ChIP, library preparation for NGS, affinity chromatography
- Cellular biology techniques: cell culture, transfection, functional studies, immunology, flow cytometry
- Collaborate on projects, participate in lab meetings, and contribute to grant and paper writing
- MD or PhD
- Research experience in cancer biology
- Collaborative spirit and ability to work well with others
- Excellent scientific writing skills for grants and publications
