Research Technologist
University of Chicago, Chicago, IL
Pay Range$50,000.00/yr – $70,000.00/yr
Responsibilities- Setting up and performing experiments.
- Maintains equipment and supplies.
- Maintain the mouse colony needed for experiments – setting up breeding cages, weaning mice and genotyping.
- Assist with developing data collection tools; building databases and general administrative support in the lab.
- Interact with students and other laboratory staff under the direction of the principal investigator.
- Provide technical and administrative support for a research project.
- Analyze and maintain data and/or specimens; conduct literature reviews; assist with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.
- Perform other related work as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to the research being conducted.
- Relevant research experience.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge in relevant scientific field.
- Knowledge of research techniques or methods relevant to the lab – PCR and sequencing, WES data analysis, mouse handling and husbandry, genotyping of mice, cell culture, western blot, enzymatic assays, radioimmunoassays.
- Analytical skills, problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, organizational skills, verbal and written communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Minimum requirements:
college or university degree in related field; < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
