About the DepartmentThe Department of Pediatrics at the University of Chicago is a dynamic and stimulating place to work. In addition to our provision of clinical care at UChicago Medicine (UCM) Comer Children’s Hospital and regional sites, we are expanding our clinical care across Northern Illinois and Northwestern Indiana in partnership with the Chicagoland Children’s Health Alliance (CCHA). The Moskowitz Laboratory ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) seeks a Research Assistant I to become a member of the laboratory team. The Laboratory studies gene regulatory networks that control organ development and adult organ homeostasis, performing discovery of fundamental developmental and homeostatic gene regulatory principles. The position involves both basic technical support and independent advancement of scientific research projects. Employees will comply with all institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies, assist in drafting presentations on research findings, and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
This at‑will position is funded by a contractual grant; employment is contingent upon continued receipt of grant funds and satisfactory performance.
- Provide technical and administrative support in a laboratory environment, performing basic laboratory techniques, research, and analysis under direction.
- Perform routine or standardized laboratory duties by collecting data in support of research projects under direct supervision.
- Collect and enter data, assist in data analysis, and help prepare reports, manuscripts, and other documents.
- Comply with institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies, procedures, directives, and mandates.
- Perform other related work as needed.
Minimum requirements:
vocational training, apprenticeships, or the equivalent experience in a related field (a four‑year degree is not typically required).
Minimum requirements:
knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- ChIP‑seq, ATAC‑seq, GRO‑seq, and RNA‑seq
- CRISPR genetic engineering
- Rapid protein degradation using Degron system
- Bioinformatics
- Cardiac functional analyses
- Mouse genetics
- Lentivirus transduction
- Cell culture experience
- Protein‑protein interaction analysis using mass spectrometry
