Overview
Predoctoral Scholar role at University of Chicago (Harris School Pre-Docs, Temps and Non-Student Research Assistants). The position supports Professor Anjali Adukia on large-scale social policy research projects designed to improve educational outcomes, focusing on education and restorative justice in schools. The analyst contributes to data collection, cleaning, model development, and implementation across a portfolio of projects.
Responsibilities- Build statistical models for a variety of research projects.
- Implement empirical econometric strategies and analytical approaches to answer specific research questions.
- Conduct literature reviews and assist with preparation of reports, manuscripts, presentations, and other documents.
- Collaborate with members of the research team and policy partners.
- Maintain technical and administrative support for research projects.
- Analyze and maintain data and/or specimens; assist with preparation of reports, manuscripts, and other documents.
- Perform other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- A college or university degree in a related field.
Work Experience
- Knowledge and skills developed through less than 2 years of related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience with statistical programming languages (e.g., R and/or Stata).
- Experience in data analysis and strong quantitative skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Prior research assistantship(s) in economics, public policy, or related quantitative social sciences; advanced training in econometrics and causal inference methods.
- Experience implementing quasi-experimental designs (e.g., difference-in-differences, propensity score matching, regression discontinuity).
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work with large, complex, and/or administrative datasets and handle sensitive data carefully.
- Experience in data analysis and statistical programming (e.g., R, Stata).
- Strong quantitative skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Predoctoral Fellow will be based out of Chicago, IL.
