Overview

Predoctoral Scholar role at University of Chicago (Harris School Pre-Docs, Temps and Non-Student Research Assistants). The position supports Professor Anjali Adukia on large-scale social policy research projects designed to improve educational outcomes, focusing on education and restorative justice in schools. The analyst contributes to data collection, cleaning, model development, and implementation across a portfolio of projects.

Responsibilities
  • Build statistical models for a variety of research projects.
  • Implement empirical econometric strategies and analytical approaches to answer specific research questions.
  • Conduct literature reviews and assist with preparation of reports, manuscripts, presentations, and other documents.
  • Collaborate with members of the research team and policy partners.
  • Maintain technical and administrative support for research projects.
  • Analyze and maintain data and/or specimens; assist with preparation of reports, manuscripts, and other documents.
  • Perform other related work as needed.
Education & Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • A college or university degree in a related field.

Work Experience

  • Knowledge and skills developed through less than 2 years of related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with statistical programming languages (e.g., R and/or Stata).
  • Experience in data analysis and strong quantitative skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Prior research assistantship(s) in economics, public policy, or related quantitative social sciences; advanced training in econometrics and causal inference methods.
  • Experience implementing quasi-experimental designs (e.g., difference-in-differences, propensity score matching, regression discontinuity).
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work with large, complex, and/or administrative datasets and handle sensitive data carefully.
Technical Skills
  • Experience in data analysis and statistical programming (e.g., R, Stata).
  • Strong quantitative skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
