Dietary Aide

Dietary Aide - Part-time (Rotating Shifts and Weekends)

Basic Function:
Assist the cook in providing nutritional meals by preparing and serving meals in an attractive manner, maintaining a high standard of sanitation and safety.

• Store food properly in containers and off the floor.
• Store toxic items correctly.
• Wash hands timely using appropriate technique.
• Follow proper sanitation and infection control procedures.
• Cover food en route to serving area.
• Deliver meals on time in an organized and efficient manner.
• Follow the correct procedure for isolation trays.
• Obtain substitutes/increased portions as requested.
• Verify resident tray with dietary card and resident.
• Follow safe and proper procedures for hot/steam carts.
• Deliver nourishment and dietary supplements to units per schedule.
• Provide fresh drinking water to all residents per schedule.
• Bring special eating utensils and equipment to unit or dining room.
• Properly dispose of garbage and waste.
• Sanitize food preparation equipment, dishes, utensils per Policy and Procedure.
• Maintain equipment in clean, safe, functional manner.
• Return items to proper place.

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Food service experience preferred.
• No convictions for abuse, neglect or mistreatment or for misappropriation of property.
• Prompt and regular attendance.

• Basic Math skills when adjusting recipes, which include measuring and scaling.
• Ability to read, write, and make simple calculations and follow oral and written directions.
• Ability to cook a variety of food in large quantities and be familiar with required seasonings and cooking time.

• Bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, reach above shoulder level, crouch, kneel, balance, push/pull repeatedly with frequencies ranging from occasionally to continuously.
• Lifting requirements: never to continuous light, occasionally to continuous moderate.
