Responsibilities- Manage activities in the North Central U.S. region, including multiple accounts (agency, specification, public agency) to secure incremental revenue.
- Develop and grow business‑to‑business relationships and identify new market opportunities to achieve measured revenue growth.
- Act as the primary communicator to the Sales Director, providing market condition updates, account status, competition analysis, and sales progress.
- Operate remotely; home office located in the Chicago area to better serve the territory.
- Provide expert product knowledge and support regarding luminaires, lighting applications, systems, and related controls.
- Maximize sales by building relationships with agencies, specifiers, designers, distributors, contractors, and developers.
- Contact agencies and/or the specification community regularly to create demand, assist with sales goals, and grow key relationships.
- Recommend agency changes when necessary, inform management of events and territory happenings, and alert management to significant changes impacting overall regional health.
- Monitor major projects and take action to increase product exposure and success.
- Help develop and execute product training programs, promotional events, and post‑event ROI measurement.
- Collaborate with other departments to plan stakeholder‑specific sales activities and promote a team atmosphere for meeting joint objectives.
- Maintain CRM software accurately for sales forecasting.
- Assist with field service and support as required.
- Collect and provide market data for forecasts and reporting (regional, competitive, contractor pricing).
- Travel extensively domestically and internationally as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Lighting, Business Administration, Marketing, or Architecture.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in professional sales or a technical support position with at least 5 years in the spec lighting industry.
- Knowledge of selling, pricing, marketing, and distribution models within the industry.
- Effective selling and presentation skills with proven ability to attain sales goals through annual marketing plans and ongoing goal management.
- Strong commitment to customer service, ability to explain and sell all Lumascape products, and conduct associated training and educational programs.
- Technical knowledge of company and competitor products, field service, troubleshooting, and solution recommendation.
- Knowledge of finance, budgeting processes, and ability to prepare budgets and manage expenses.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written English communication skills and ability to leverage relationships and negotiate contracts.
- Strong travel commitment, strategic location within the territory, and flexible working hours.
- Consultative selling techniques, agency representative knowledge, distribution channel expertise, specification process, business management and marketing techniques.
- Aptitude for teaching, coaching, mentoring, and facilitating training in both small and large groups.
- Goal‑oriented mindset with ability to meet or exceed sales objectives and lead, plan, and organize across the region.
