Under general supervision and according to established policies, you will provide unarmed uniformed security services to support the department’s mission of protecting persons and property from harm. You may also perform duties as a bicycle patrol officer.

• Patrol assigned areas on foot or in motorized vehicle according to schedule; investigate unusual occurrences.
• Report incidents or potential loss of hospital, employee, patient, or visitor property and involve police when necessary.
• Respond to all service calls in a timely, safe, professional, and courteous manner.
• Provide directions and escort to patients and visitors as needed.
• Direct vehicle traffic, keep loading docks and ambulance zones clear, issue citations, and maintain records.
• Physically restrain unruly individuals and involve police when required; assist with court testimony.
• Administer control systems for patient and employee valuables; monitor lost/found items.
• Ensure doors, windows, alarms, fire extinguishers, and other equipment are secure and functional; notify appropriate personnel of issues.
• Investigate and document thefts, accidents, and incidents, preparing accurate reports.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum one year of customer‑focused, service‑based experience.

• Minimum two years in law enforcement, military, or private security.
• Experience in a healthcare environment.
• Fundamental understanding of computers, loss prevention, and fire/security technology.

• Valid Illinois Firearm Owner’s Identification Card within 90 days of start.
• Current CPR certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross) within 90 days of start.
• Valid driver’s license; if using personal vehicle, maintain required liability coverage.
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification within six months of hire.

• IAHSS Basic Healthcare Security Officer certification within twelve months of start.
